Dear Cucamonga SD Families:

As we step into this season of gratitude, I want to take a moment to thank our amazing Cucamonga families for the heart and energy you bring to our schools every single day. Whether your child is learning to love reading, discovering their creative side, showing kindness to others, or gearing up for the leap to high school, every student adds something special to our district family.

Did you know that by the time our children leave Rancho Cucamonga Middle School, they’ve completed over 1,200 days of learning and read enough words to fill an entire library shelf? Or that our children have built robots that can follow voice commands, painted murals that brighten hallways, and raised funds to support community causes?

Those achievements don’t happen by accident, they happen because of dedicated teachers, curious learners, and families like you who make learning a daily adventure.

This month let’s celebrate the teamwork, kindness, and creativity that make Cucamonga School District such a vibrant community. Take time to ask your child what they’re proud of this month, you might be surprised by what they share!

Take care,
 Michael Chaix, Ed.D.

SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT

THE ONTARIO CENTER SCHOOL
By Principal Narrie Gavares

The lights were on and the 3D printers were humming with excitement at our Fall Family Maker Mania Night at The Ontario Center School! Students and their families filled the cafeteria, ready to tackle a fun and ambitious challenge: designing their very own spooky 3D-printed candle holders. Parents and students teamed up to use Tinkercad, a user-friendly 3D design software, to create unique candle holders that would illuminate Halloween-themed images. Our amazing teachers were on hand to guide everyone through the process, making sure that even first-time designers felt confident and had a blast. It was truly a night of learning for all—and for many parents, it was their very first time working with 3D design software.

The room was buzzing with creativity and collaboration as families worked together to bring their spooky designs to life. The air was filled with the delicious smell of free pizza as everyone worked hard on their projects. The best part? Soon, all of the students and parents will be able to collect their final, printed creations! We can't wait to see all of the incredible 3D-printed candle holders in person.

This event was a fantastic way to bring our school community together while building on the Portrait of a Graduate, our district's vision for the future. By offering hands-on experiences like this, we're helping our families grow their digital literacy and embrace future-forward understanding. It was a wonderful night, and we look forward to hosting more exciting family events that spark curiosity and creativity for everyone.
