Los Amigos Elementary School By Principal Amber Arreguin
Innovation, History, and Community
As we move into the last third of the school year, our hallways are buzzing with the energy of students who are not just learning but truly doing. Here are a few highlights of what our students and staff have been up to:
💻 Computer Science in Action
We are thrilled to have our District Computer Science Teacher, Mrs. Munoz for the duration of the third trimester! This partnership is bringing computer science to life across all grade levels. Rather than learning tech in isolation, our students are engaging in integrated activities that blend computer science with core subjects like math, science, and literacy.
📜 Celebrating Heritage and Research
As we wrap up Black History Month, our classrooms have been filled with meaningful discussions and activities honoring the legacies and contributions of Black Americans. This spirit of inquiry extended into our History Day Fair, where students were officially recognized for their rigorous research and creative displays.
📊 National Academic Benchmarks
Recently, a randomly selected group of our 4th graders participated in the NAEP assessment (National Assessment of Educational Progress). These students represented our school with focus and pride, helping provide important data on educational trends across the country.
🤠 Community Connections: The Friendship Hoedown
A massive thank you to our amazing volunteers and fabulous staff for organizing the Friendship Hoedown! It was a joy to see families come together for an evening of dancing and laughter. Events like these remind us that the heart of our school is the strong bond between our staff, students, and parents.
