SUPERINTENDENT'S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
4/10/2026

Dear CSD Families,

We hope you had a restful Spring Break! It was wonderful seeing everyone back in the classroom this week. As we jump into State and local Testing, here are three quick ways to help your child feel their best:

3 Keys to Testing Success

  • Stick to the Routine: Consistency is king. Try to keep evening activities light to ensure a calm transition to bed.
  • Prioritize Sleep: Aim for 9 hours of rest. A well-rested brain is a sharp brain!
  • Fuel Up: A high-protein breakfast (at home or at school) keeps focus levels high all morning.

Quick Reminders

  • Be on Time: Testing starts promptly at the bell!
  • Charge Up: Please plug in school devices overnight.
  • Stay Positive: A little morning encouragement goes a long way.

We’ve got this! Thank you for helping our students shine.

Take care,

Michael Chaix, Ed.D.

SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT

THE ONTARIO CENTER SCHOOL
 By Principal Narrie Gavares

Celebrating Our Young Authors and Artists!

There is a special kind of magic that happens when a child falls in love with a story, and nowhere was that more evident than at our recent school-wide Reading Fair. Our hallways were transformed into a vibrant gallery of literary imagination as students presented their custom tri-boards. From hand-drawn illustrations to creative 3D embellishments, our students didn’t just summarize books—they brought them to life! It was a joy to see their hard work on display, and the level of creativity this year truly set a new bar for our school community.

We are incredibly proud to announce that several of our students represented us with distinction at both the site and district levels. A huge congratulations to our winners:

  • Elijah Hontanosas (5th Grade): 1st Place at the Site and 1st Place at the District!
  • Camden Fierro (4th Grade): 1st Place at the Site and 2nd Place at the District!
  • Anika Singh (3rd Grade): 1st Place at the Site and 2nd Place at the District!

Of course, this wonderful event would not be possible without the tireless dedication of our amazing librarian, Mrs. Monica Sapp. From facilitating student projects and coordinating our site-level judges to ensuring our winners were ready for the district stage, Mrs. Sapp’s passion for literacy shines through in everything she does. We are so grateful for her hard work in making the Reading Fair a highlight of our school year. Please join me in thanking Mrs. Sapp and celebrating our talented young readers!
