SUPERINTENDENT'S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
4/24/2026

Dear CSD Families:

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Open House at Rancho Cucamonga Middle School! The campus was full of energy as students proudly showcased their learning, creativity, and achievements.

From hands-on math experiments and engaging science displays to impressive history projects and vibrant art and computer science work, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Our theater students brought laughter with improv performances, while interactive games and activities filled classrooms with excitement. The evening ended with an unforgettable dance team performance and a fun mascot dance-off!

We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful to our staff and families for making the night so special. We look forward to continuing this momentum as we finish the school year strong!

Below are some pictures of student projects from Open House.

Take care,
Michael Chaix, Ed.D.

SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT

Cucamonga Elementary School
By Principal Dr. Jenna Tremayne

As we move deeper into the spring season, our Cubs continue to bring our Portrait of a Graduate to life each day. Over the past month, our campus has been filled with meaningful opportunities for students to demonstrate innovation, creativity, critical thinking, empathy, resilience, social awareness, initiative, and growing technology literacy.

One of the most powerful examples of empathy and social awareness has been our recognition of Autism Appreciation Month. Students engaged in thoughtful conversations about inclusion and kindness, and many proudly participated in our Autism Awareness Spirit Week by wearing blue and sharing messages that promote acceptance and understanding. We are also excited to share the delivery to every class of a special book, Different Together by Jacques Bastien and Danica Lyos-Bastien, helping to further classroom discussions about celebrating differences. These efforts will continue as we look forward to our district’s Belong-A-Palooza inclusive event on April 30th, where students and families can come together to celebrate belonging and community. We hope to see you there!

Additionally, our 5th Grade Cubs have also demonstrated creativity and critical thinking through academic and extracurricular achievements. We proudly recognized our 5th grade winners in the City Water District Poster Contest, where Cubs used artistic expression and environmental awareness to communicate important messages about water conservation. Their work reflects not only creativity but also initiative and real-world problem solving were honored at the Lewis Family Playhouse last month.

In preparation for Earth Day next week, students participated in an engaging EcoHero Assembly, where Cubs learned about environmental responsibility and the importance of caring for our planet. This experience encouraged critical thinking and initiative, inspiring students to consider how their daily choices can make a positive impact on the world around them.

Looking ahead, excitement is building for our Multicultural Fair this Friday, 4/22/26. This event is a wonderful opportunity for students to develop cross-cultural skills as Cubs explore and celebrate the diverse backgrounds that make up our school community. Through food, performances, and shared traditions, Cubs gain a deeper appreciation for perspectives beyond their own.

In the classroom, resilience and initiative have been at the forefront as our 3rd through 5th grade students prepare for upcoming state testing (which starts next week). Over the past few weeks, students have met one-on-one with their teachers to review their academic data, reflect on their progress, and set personalized goals for finishing the trimester strong. These conversations empower students to take ownership of their learning, apply critical thinking, and make informed decisions and self-directed plans for achievement.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. It is truly a joy to see our students grow not only academically, but as thoughtful, capable, and compassionate individuals who embody the values of our Portrait of a Graduate.
