Capturing Kids' Hearts - Empathy
Dragon Families,
Throughout the month of September, our Dragons focused on empathy as part of our Portrait of a Graduate (POG) and Capturing Kids' Hearts (CKH) initiatives. Across all classrooms, students engaged in lessons and activities designed to help them understand others' feelings, appreciate different perspectives, show kindness, and practice empathy in all settings. Each week through our Friday morning announcements, students were also given "Social Dares" focused on CKH Social Contracts, PBIS, building community, and empathy. Students were encouraged to carry out these "Social Dares" with their peers and adults.
To help reinforce these important skills beyond the classroom, I'm sharing a family newsletter with simple ways to continue practicing empathy at home. Each month, I will highlight a new school wide focus and share resources to help build a meaningful connection between school and home.
Together, we can empower our Dragons to become the best versions of themselves and make positive contributions to our school, home, and greater community. Thank you for your continued partnership in helping our Dragons grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Go Dragons!
